A Future Daily Routine
Dear Siona (of the future),
I’m proud of you. Every day, you wake up and choose an outfit based on your current mood even if Mumma says you take too long to get ready and should pick an outfit the night before. Once you’re done getting dressed, you go eat a hearty breakfast of loaded avocado toast — with all the ingredients meal prepped — before heading to class. You participate in multiple lectures/discussions related to gender, race, and health even if Daddy told you to take a technology-related course instead of another one related to social issues. You then meet a friend for boba and say no when they ask you to pay because you really can’t afford that right now. Despite your fear, you and the friend have a great time laughing over old memories and excitedly discussing the future. You don’t apologize for periodically spitting out fast-paced monologues because after all, that’s part of your personality and if someone didn’t like it, they wouldn’t choose to hang out with you. Next, you take a well-deserved nap because you’ve graduated from IOP and have the time. In the evening, you change and head to the gym for your favorite — pull day — because you have been adequately fueling for a while and are fully cleared to exercise. You don’t rush your sets when you notice someone waiting for the machine you’re on because you’ve realized you’re just as worthy of taking up space as the next person. You get back to your apartment to take a scorching hot shower and change into comfy pajamas. You then prepare your dinner, taking the time to make a new recipe you’ve been excited about even if it’s “impractical.” You settle at the dining table, eating mindfully for the first half and then opening up the newest sapphic historical fiction to finish your food while reading. That’s how you’ve figured out how to balance both savoring the food and dealing with urges to restrict and you’re able to successfully finish your third meal of the day. You take a second to give yourself a prideful hug and acknowledge how far you’ve come. You clean up and start the dishwasher before spending a few hours on your schoolwork for the day. You then put on your sleep playlist with a 30 minute sleep timer and drift off, dreaming of sunsets and mythical animals since it was a fulfilling day.
Lots of love,
Siona (of the present)
